“Steve has advised us on many financial matters including mortgages, pensions and insurance. I would have no hesitation in recommending Steve and Solent Financial Services to anyone.” – M C
As generalist advisers with expertise in many aspects of business and personal finance, we provide a holistic financial planning service that is founded upon long-term relationships, trust and mutual respect. Fully independent, we are able to ensure that you receive the very best products for your needs over the short and longer term. We take pride in reviewing our clients on an annual basis, providing diligence on your behalf.
Solent Financial Services is 2plan’s Mortgage Advisor of the year 2016. So whether you’re moving home or refinancing, you know we’re a mortgage broker you can trust to offer quality advice on a wide range of funding options from mainstream residential mortgages to self-build projects. We are also approved members of the Help to Buy South panel for Radian Homes.
As standard we do not charge a broker fee, but you can choose how you pay us for mortgages: pay a fee (usually 0.4% of the loan amount) or we can accept commission from the lender. (Please note that your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage).
Savings & Investments
Savings and investments are not the same! Savings are funds that you set aside and that can be accessed easily. They are often put aside for a specific purchase, like a holiday or a new car.
Investments are designed to be held for a longer term – usually at least 5 years. Before you invest, you need to be comfortable with tying up your money for a period of time, and should not consider investments unless you have some savings in place.
We understand that everyone has different views and objectives when it comes to retirement planning. Our advice will depend on your needs, goals and attitude to risk, and can include all elements of pre- and post-retirement planning, stakeholder and personal pensions, Open Market schemes, Self-Invested Personal Pensions, NHS and Teachers’ schemes and much more.
Life can be unpredictable – nobody knows what the future holds. A life assurance plan can provide for your family if you die or become terminally ill, but the need for protection doesn’t stop there. Happily, advances in medical science mean that more people are surviving serious illness, but this can have further implications for the products you will need – so we can provide expert advice on the full gamut of financial protection offerings.
You insure your car. You insure your house and contents. You insure your pets.
Why not insure your income? At Solent Financial Services we believe that Income Protection Insurance should be the cornerstone of your financial plan.
Equity release is a way of releasing wealth from your property without the need to move or downsize. You need to have built up sufficient equity in your home before you can do this, and there are a number of conditional factors that may qualify you in or out of equity release – but we can provide advice and find the right scheme for you.
Secured loans allow you to borrow a large sum of money (usually £25,000 or more) using your home or other major assets as collateral against repayments. These are not to be entered into lightly, and we can work with you to develop a realistic and affordable payment plan as well as provide advice about whether a secured loan is right for you.
